Ways Your College Student Can Prepare for Spring Break

Proper preparation will ensure they have plenty of fun in the sun.

If you have a son or daughter in college, you know March means it's Spring Break time.

So, to ensure they enjoy their break from reality, here are some tips for you to share with them before they head out.

Budget, budget, budget

You have spent months planning for this week, so make sure you have enough funds while you're away. Do some research to figure out how much things cost where you are going, then add a little more to that in case of an emergency. This way you can enjoy nights out for dinner or take a special tour.

Leave an itinerary with someone

Don't leave without at least one person back home knowing your travel plans. Prepare your itinerary and leave it with someone at home, and make sure that person has your cell number. This way you can be contacted in case of an emergency. If your plans change, be sure and let the person know.

Always play it safe

When traveling to a new spot, especially one that might be out of the country, it's always a good idea to have a safety plan in hand. Have phone numbers of emergency personnel in your wallet or purse, and leave a copy in your hotel room. Research places tourists should avoid. And always tell someone if you ever plan to go off on your own.

One bag is enough

Lets face it, airline travel is not easy these days. So do yourself a favor and try to pack what you need into one bag. You'll avoid unnecessary baggage fees, and having everyone in one bag will make your trip less stressful.
