Commitment to Public Service

My name is Brian LeFort and I am running for State Representative in the 13th Middlesex District.  I am running for State Representative because I am committed to public service, I feel a responsibility to serve my home district, and I want to make sure that the policies crafted on Beacon Hill directly add to our quality of life here in this district.

To me, public service is more than just helping others.  It is the process by which community engagement can lead to changes in the way society thinks and acts about different issues.  Public service has been part of my life and part of the fabric of my family for as long as I can remember.

My father is a twenty-four year veteran of the Waltham Fire Department.  My mother is an administrative assistant at Spaulding Rehabilitation Center.  When I was a young child, my mother cared for my brother and me during the day, and worked nights serving at restaurants.  The personal sacrifices that my parents have made in their lives have been very influential to me.  My parents have always led by example, showing me the values of hard work, treating others with respect, standing up for what I believe in, and being a positive influence on the people I meet.

By entering into public service four years ago as a staffer in the State Legislature, I committed professionally to helping people who cannot advocate on their own behalf.  At the same time, I committed personally to finding visionary solutions to the complex issues facing Massachusetts.

I believe now is the time to for the next generation of public servants to step up and begin making real contributions to improving the Commonwealth; and I am the person that has the needed experience to accomplish this goal.

Thanks to my years of experience working in the State Legislature, I can hit the ground running to be an effective legislator on day one to provide exceptional constituent services.  From navigating the agency system, to working on the budget, to drafting bills, and attending hearings, I fully understand the many important steps of turning an idea into a law.  The residents in the district have the opportunity to elect someone who has deep knowledge of the issues.  I have spent the last four years building a strong reputation and strong relationships in the Legislature and in State Government.  I would use those relationships and my knowledge of the legislative process to be a successful Representative right away.

It would be an honor to represent the 13th Middlesex District that I have lived in for my entire life.  I take great pride in being from this region.  The Towns of Sudbury, Wayland, Framingham, and the City of Marlborough have much to offer the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, both economically and aesthetically.  I love the uniqueness of this district and would work extremely hard to represent all the interests of the district.
