Get in Shape for Women Wins Inaugural 'Best Of' Contest

Voters decide Get in Shape for Women the top place to exercise in Sudbury.

If you're New Year's resolution was to lose weight or get in shape, then our Patch readers have made it clear where to go to make it happen.

In Sudbury Patch's inaugural "Best of Patch" contest, 871 voters had cast their ballots when the poll closed at 9 a.m. and voted which health and fitness business in town is best.

The winner? with a whopping 409 votes.

Get In Shape For Women is a personal training and fitness studio for women in Sudbury. Trainers here work privately with one to four women at each training session for a combination of weight training, cardio, and nutrition coaching to see that each client receives comprehensive instruction that will help her effectively achieve her fitness goals.

The program used at Get in Shape for Women is a transformation model based on four vital principles including cardio, weight training, accountability and supportive nutrition.

Coming in second was newcomer with 256 votes.

Next week, Sudbury Patch is looking for the best place to go for a sandwich. Voting begins Monday at 5 a.m.

I am sure Get in Shape is a wonderful place and provides a great workout but I have never seen more than 5 people in that place at a time. Are you telling me that they have over 400 members? I am actually a member of Koko Fit club and have never seen that many people in there either so not sure where they got 256 votes. I am not a member of Bonnie's Boot Camp but was at her fundraiser and did see at least 150 so maybe I can believe their numbers. This was a fun poll and I hope there are more moving forward. Cheating will only ruin it for everyone.

It does not take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that the poll and comments were not exactly on the up-and-up. But that's life. I give a lot of credit to the places that kept it legit.

LOBTTG: The Sudbury Koko FitClub has close to 100 members, plus staff and family that are not considered members, but love the club and use it regularly. We also have a club in Needham (400 members), and many members from that club work out in Sudbury too. My guess is that they saw the signs we had in the club promoting the poll and wanted to show their support. The comments our members wrote, tell the story though (same can be said about Bonnie's and Zumba with Judy). The votes are nice, but seeing the reasons why Koko works for them is what motivates us and is why we got into this business in the first place.

How can you compare these large franchises with small locally runned bussiness is beyond my understanding..

The beauty of Get in Shape is that they have many members, but there are never more than 4 on the weights at one time, and 4 on cardio, which gives the advantage of having a knowledgeable trainer with you throughout your workout. The atmosphere is light and fun, but the workouts are serious. You are motivated and guided through as challenging a workout as you want. As someone who has struggled with workouts all my life (as in "hating them"), I have found a "home" at Get in Shape" in Sudbury. Steve, Michael, Phil and Tanya are wonderful and motivating. I highly recommend it!
