Sudbury residents yearning for a new twist in frozen treat selections won't have to wait much longer.

Resident Tom Polcari, who worked as a travelling installer for a car wash company for 19 years, is opening T-WISTED Frozen Yogurt in January, a self-serve shop that will offer 50 flavors, numerous toppings and more to those who catering to their sweet tooth.

Polcari's journey started about a year ago when he came across a lot in the Rugged Bear Plaza. After talking it over with landlord Chuck Katz, Polcari began researching what it would take to get his business off the ground.

"I love frozen yogurt and I love the concept of self serve," he said. "It's a fun, family activity. I did a lot of research. When I came across this, it was an exciting place, very upbeat and family friendly."

Customers can expect to find something different every week. Polcari plans on having about 50 flavors of frozen yogurt, offering about 16 every week, and rotating them.

"There will be raspberry, blueberry, chocolate, hazelnut (to name a few)," said Ellen Brandt, Polcari's restaurant consultant. "And we will be cognizant of people's allergies."

And what would frozen yogurt be without toppings? Customers will be able to choose from M&Ms, Snickers, Heath Bar, Nerds, Snowcaps, Sourpatch Kids, Gummy Worms and a whole lot more.

"The product will be good," Polcari said. "I hope to bring a twist to it."

At T-WISTED customers will be able to choose take-out or eat-it. Polcari plans to set up window bars with stools, TVs and play music.

And frozen yogurt won't be the only product in the store. Italian cookies, espresso, cappuccino and hot chocolate are among the other items that will be on the menu.

Polcari is planning a soft opening in the second week of January, with the grand opening at the end of the month.

He is also accepting applications for employment. Interested applicants can contact Polcari at polcari67@yahoo.com, or stop by the store at 410 Boston Post Road, Unit 11, to fill out an application.
