Thursday: Clouds & sun. Midday temps up near 40 but they will fall back into the low 30s by late afternoon. Arctic front will pass through, and winds will increase from the northwest to 15-25mph.

Friday: Morning light snow along the coast/cape/islands---1-3" likely then a cold blast of air. Highs in the mid 20s. Wind chills in the teens.

Saturday: Cloudy morning with a few flurries. Some sun by afternoon. Highs near 40--great day for skiing!

2. NEED COMPUTER TIPS?: Acton Memorial Library staff will help users with tasks such as setting up an email address, creating a document, attaching a document to an email, finding and navigating a website on an unfamiliar subject, and other common situations. People may bring their own laptop or use one of the library’s (with or without mouse) for these "no appointment needed" sessions. Sessions are today at 2 p.m.

3. SUDBURY WOMANS CLUB LUNCHEON:

The Sudbury Womans Club presents Nancy Kelleigh, an attorney-at-law, speaking on "Questions you don't think to ask" today at Sudbury's Goodnow Library's Community Room at noon. Kelleigh practices in the areas of trusts and estates, gift and estate tax planning, estate administration and residential real estate conveyance. The program starts with a light luncheon followed by a brief business meeting before the featured attraction.

4. WHAT TO CELEBRATE TODAY: Today is Ditch New Years Resolutions Day. If there's a day to celebrate New Years and to make resolutions for the upcoming year, then there should be a day to ditch those resolutions. That's the reason for today. If you haven't broken or given up all of those New Year's resolutions, you're doing better than most of us. Maybe, you're well along the way to accomplishing them. Maybe, a few are already checked off on your list. Good for you! For many of us, New Years resolutions are hanging heavily over our heads. They have become a burden, and perhaps were not such a good idea after all. Then ... of course, there's the Ne Years resolutions that have already been broken. If you haven't accomplished, broken, or given up your New Year's resolutions, today is your chance to get out from under them.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1706 — Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston; 1806 — James Madison Randolph, the grandson of Thomas Jefferson, became the first child born in the White House; 1893 — Hawaii'sQueen Liliuokalani was forced to abdicate by a group of planters and businessmen; 1977 — Gary Gilmore became the first person executed in the U.S. since the death penalty was reintroduced; 1991 — Operation Desert Storm was launched against Iraq; 1998 — President Clinton became the first sitting U.S. president to testify as a defendant in a criminal or civil suit.
