2. LUNCH WITH VETERANS: The Sudbury Senior Center will host a luncheon at noon to honor local Veterans. The keynote speaker will be Captain Thom Kenney.

3. LEARN TO SKATE: Learning to skate inspires self-confidence in children and gives them a healthy activity to enjoy thoughout their lives.  This fun-filled and instructional program  at Colonial Figure Skating Club at NVO rink is the perfect starting point for children ages 3-6. Snowplow Sam 1-3 introduces preliminary moves to preschool age skaters not yet ready for Basic 1. Students should bring skates (not double runner blades), a helmet, mittens or gloves and warm, layered clothing. Cost is $16.50.

4. WHAT TO CELEBRATE TODAY:  Today is Operating Room Nurse Day: Today honors those important nurses, who care for patients before, during and immediately after surgery. It's a very important role, during a period where a patients comfort and life is in another person's hands. Show your thanks and appreciation to Operating nurse that you know. You can send them cards or Ecards. However, just a simple, spoken "thank you" will do.

5. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1969: Apollo 12, the second manned lunar expedition, was launched; 1995: The U.S. federal government began a partial shut down of government services after the U.S. Congress could not pass a budget; 2002: Nancy Pelosi of California became the first woman to lead a party in Congress; 2003: The most distant object ever found in our solar system, named Sedna, was discovered by astronomers at the Mount Palomar Observatory.
