A few facts, figures and tidbits to start your Tuesday.

1. FORECAST:

Tuesday: cloudy skies with a few flurries. A brief period of some light snow is possible early afternoon south of the MA pike. A coating is possible in that location. Cold with highs from 38-42.

Wednesday: Sun & clouds. A few flurries possible in the Worcester Hills. Highs in the low 40s.

3. FITNESS CLASS: Feel like you overate during Thanksgiving? Want to work off all those extra calories? Join a class for $10 at 133 Prospect St, Acton, that uses stretch bands and hand weights for a great workout.

4. WHAT TO CELEBRATE TODAY: Today is Pins and Needles Day. The real purpose of Pins and Needles Day is to commemorate the opening of the pro-Labor play Pins and Needles on Broadway on this day in 1937. Over decades of time, people lost track of the original meaning of this day.

Today, most people look upon Pins and Needles Day, as a nervous and anxious day. Its a day of eager anticipation, as we await an event or for something to happen. One could argue that kids are on pins and needles from now until Christmas, as they nervously wonder if they have been good enough to receive a visit from Santa in a few weeks.

5. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1910 — New York's Pennsylvania Station opened; 1953 — Playwright Eugene O'Neill died in Boston at age 65; 1970 — Pope Paul VI was attacked at the Manila airport by a Bolivian painter disguised as a priest; 1973 — Gerald R. Ford was confirmed by the Senate to become vice president, succeeding Spiro T. Agnew; 2003 — President Bush secretly flew to Iraq to spend Thanksgiving with the troops.
