Weekend Happenings: Egg Hunt, Poet Laureate, Pancakes and Dance

A few things to do west of Boston this weekend.

Spring Step Trunk Show
When/Where:
Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Cambridgewear, 342 Great Road, Acton.
Details: Looking to try out some of the new spring styles in sandals, flats, clogs and boots? Diane Carson with Spring Step will be at the store for a trunk show.
Price: Just the cost of your new shoes

Spring Egg Hunt

When/Where: Saturday at 3 p.m.; The Loker School, 47 Loker St., Wayland
Details: With all the un-springlike weather going around, this event is sure to turn your thoughts to buttercups and baby birds and warmer days. The Wayland Children and Parents Association hosts this annual egg hunt for children who are walking through age 6. Bring a basket to collect your eggs.

Former Poet Robert Pinsky Reading in Wayland

When/Where: Sunday at 4 p.m.; Wayland Middle School, 201 Main St., Wayland
Details: It isn't every day that you get to hear one of the best poets in the country read his own work. Wayland Reads Poetry officially kicks off with the visit from a former U.S. Poet Laureate and current poetry editor of Slate magazine.

Palm Sunday and Pancake Brunch

When/Where: Sunday at 10:30 a.m.; Congregational Church of Weston, UCC, 130 Newton St., Weston.
Details: Worship this week will feature a dramatic readings that takes place in Jerusalem during Jesus' last week. Children will participate in a traditional Parade of Palms and the service will feature music and Scripture readings. After the service, the senior high youth group will serve a pancake brunch.
Price: Brunch is $5 per person with a $20 maximum per family.

A Step Above Dance Company Presents "Perspectives"
When/Where:
Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.and 7:30 p.m.; Vokes Theater, 97 Boston Post Road, Wayland.
Details: A Step Above Dance Company brings together advanced dancers from Sudbury's Dancer's Workshop. The student dancers will perform pieces they've choreographed from a variety of genres.
