Weekend Happenings: 'Frightful' Fun, Books for Sale, and a Children's Classic

Whether you're looking for a Halloween event or something else entirely, there are options close to home this weekend.

Pumpkin Patch Halloween

When/Where: Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. at Sudbury Valley Trustees (18 Wolbach Road, Sudbury)

The Buzz: First things first, costumes are strongly encouraged for the whole family. Once there (in costume, of course) there will be storytelling, craft activities, seasonal food, games for the kids and lots more.

Price: SVT members, free; non-members, $2

Charlotte's Web

When/Where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Sunday, 3 p.m.

The Buzz: Proscenium Circus, the student theater of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, will open its 45th season with this children's classic. If you're looking for an alternative to all the Halloween happenings tis weekend, this is it.

Friends of the Wayland Library Book and Bake Sale

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. at the Wayland Town Building (41 Cochituate Road, Wayland)

The Buzz: It's the biannual fundraiser for the library ... and your biannual opportunity to stock up on "new" books and baked goods of all sorts. If you're a member of the Friends of the Wayland Library, you get early access to the sale on Friday evening from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Price: Free

Howl-o-Ween Event to Help Needy Animals

When/Where: Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Especially for Pets (44 Main St, Wayland)

The Buzz: It's a party for your best friend. Bring your favorite furry pal and $10 to Especially for Pets. Your $10 donation will get you a "spooky" photo of your pet (don't forget to dress your furry friend in costume), a goody bag and more. Plus ... you only have until Sunday to enter Patch's pet costume contest. Snap a photo for our contest when you get dressed up for the party.

Price: $10

Halloween Family Fun Night

When/Where: Saturday, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Congregational Church of Weston (130 Newton St., Weston)

The Buzz: It's a costume party, games, food and more for the whole family. The event will benefit the CCW high school youth group.

Price: $5, with a $20/family maximum
