Contested Races Develop on Ballot for BOS, School Committee Spots

The deadline to file to run for this year's Sudbury municipal election has passed, and the ballot is becoming a bit clearer.

Election Day in Sudbury is still more than one month away, but as of Monday evening the ballot began to take shape.

Monday at 5 p.m. was the deadline for candidates to return papers in order to declare their intentions to run in the Annual Town Election, which is scheduled for Monday, March 31.

Though there are many uncontested races on the current ballot, there are also multiple key positions that feature contested races.

Candidates have until Thursday, Feb. 26, to withdraw their candidacy.

Below is the list of Sudbury residents who returned their papers and are on the first draft ballot, according to Assistant Town Clerk Veronica Craven:

  • Board of Selectmen (Three years, vote for one): John C. Drobinski (incumbent) and Patricia A. Brown.
  • Sudbury School Committee (Three years, vote for two): Ellen Winer Joachim (incumbent), Richard J. Robison (incumbent), Christine A. Hogan, and Lisa V. Kouchakdjian.
  • Lincoln-Sudbury Regional District School Committee (Three years, vote for two): Elena M. Kleifges (incumbent), Patricia M. Mostue (incumbent), and Sofya L. Gruman-Reznik.
  • Park and Recreation Commissioner (Three years, vote for one): Michael T. Ensley and Arthur G. Krusinski.
  • Board of Assessors (Three years, vote for one): Liam J. Vesely.
  • Goodnow Library Trustee (Three years, vote for two): Robert William Iuliano (incumbent), and Barbary F. Pryor (incumbent).
  • Goodnow Library Trustee (One year, vote for one): Nancy Jane Hershfield.
  • Board of Health (Three years, vote for one): Susan R. Sama.
  • Sudbury Housing Authority (Five years, vote for one): Sherril P. Cline (incumbent). 
  • Planning Board (Three years, vote for one): Martin Joseph Long.
