Framingham Resident to Run for Conroy's Rep Seat

Brian J. LeFort works as a legislative staffer for State Rep. Chris Walsh.

Brian J. LeFort, a Framingham Town Meeting member and a legislative staffer for Framingham State Rep. Chris Walsh, announced Thursday morning he will seek the Democratic nomination for state representative for the 13th Middlesex District, on the heels of Rep. Thomas Conroy’s announcement today to run for state treasurer in 2014.

“I am excited about the opportunity to meet the residents of Sudbury, Wayland, Framingham and Marlborough”, said LeFort, who lives in the Saxonville section of Framingham.

“I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective, my community experience, and legislative know-how to this race. This campaign will be a grassroots effort to engage residents about what we can accomplish as a collective group to move the region forward into the 21st Century and beyond.”

The 13th Middlesex district consists of three out of the four precincts in Wayland, Precinct 3 in Framingham (Saxonville), a handful of precincts in Marlborough and Sudbury.

Conroy has held the seat since 2007, although it was reconfigured a couple of years ago to include Framingham and Marlborough.

LeFort, 25, is a life-long Framingham resident and a graduate of Framingham Public Schools.

An elected Framingham Town Meeting member since 2010, he has served on both the Rules and Public Safety Standing Committees.

A graduate of Suffolk University with a dual degree in history and political
science, LeFort works as a legislative staffer for State Rep. Chris
Walsh, who represents Framingham, since 2010. (Framingham is served by three state representatives.)

As a fixture of many MetroWest volunteer organizations, LeFort has begun reaching out to those in the district he has yet to meet and continuing conversations with neighbors and friends. Through these conversations, he hopes to engage residents in the issues that they find pressing and learn what priorities matter the most to the district.
