Pat Brown Pulls Papers for Board of Selectmen Race

Planning Board member will challenge Chairman John Drobinski.

Current Planning Board Member Pat Brown is making a run for Sudbury's Board of Selectmen.

According to Assistant Town Clerk Veronica Craven, Brown, whose term on the Planning Board expires in 2015, filed her intentions on Jan. 24.

Brown will challenge incumbent John Drobinski, who is the current chairman of the Board.

Brown ran for Planning Board in 2012.

Since becoming a Planning Board member, Brown has been an active member of Sudbury, attending numerous Selectmen meetings and public speakings, such as the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.

Drobinski, a selectman since 1987, has been active in all facets of the town, including the Atkinson Pool construction, the Noyes roof/window/boiler upgrade, while also volunteering time to major open space and recreation projects.

He has been a Sudbury resident since 1978.

In May 2012, Drobinski came under fire during the Lavendergate incident, insisting the town move on from the happenings of May 9 when the local restaurant and bar was slapped with a liquor license violation. Then Chairman Larry O'Brien recused himself from all conversations on advice from town counsel after admitting he was there past the allowed serving hours, leaving Drobinski and then Vice Chair Bob Haarde to discuss to matter.

Also pulling papers on Jan. 24 for Planning Board was Planning Board Associate Martin Long, Craven said.

According to Town Clerk Rosemary Harvell, there will be 13 official positions open for election on March 31. Interested candidates must file their intentions on or before Feb. 6, and return their nomination papers on or before Feb. 10.
