HOPEsudbury Sudbury Telethon and Auction Saturday, 11/2. Watch and Bid.

How do you improve on an already proven commodity like the popular, 12-year-old HOPEsudbury Telethon & Auction?

Now, bidders can bid on over 300 items from their computer, mobile phone or tablet instead of by phone. Bids may be placed while on the soccer field, dining out, waiting for an appointment between 7AM and 9:45 PM on Saturday, 11/2.  Go to hopesudbury.org to view the items and place bids.

The majority of funds raised through he Telethon support HOPEsudbury’s flagship program, The HOPE Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to Sudbury residents. Last year the Fund distributed $39,000 to 59 Sudbury families who had fallen on hard times. Residents apply for confidential assistance through the Sudbury town social worker, with most requesting funds to cover basic needs such as utilities, rent/mortgage and medical expenses.

Some of the great features of online bidding include the ability to check bid status at any time, notifications when you’ve been outbid (in order to re-bid), and a single closing time for all tems. There is something for every interest and budget level from gift certificates to restaurants, fitness centers, and local merchants to Patriots Red Sox, and Celtics tickets to museum passes, local sports team registrations, summer camp vouchers, spa and nail services, special weekend getaways, and much, much more.

The heart and soul of the Telethon takes place on the Lincoln-Sudbury stage where close to 100 performers await their moment in the spotlight from noon to 10 PM. Watch live on Comcast Channel 8 and Verizon Channel 31 and streamed on sudburytv.org

“Every year we have so many wonderful performers who make this event memorable -- singers, instrumentalists, bands and dance troupes,” Talent Coordinator Carole-Ann Baer noted. “This year, you’ll see some exciting and unusual acts throughout the telethon. We have talent  from as young as 6 years old up to 80 years old.”  Sudbury favorites the Hip Hop Mamas, The Friends of Broadway, The Encore Glee Club, The Performing Arts Connection and Dancer’s Workshop and members of the Golden Tones will be performing.
