Community Corner

Mitzvah Mall at Congregation Beth El

Hanukkah is early this year! Come purchase creative, one of a kind gifts and support some wonderful causes. The 3rd annual Mitzvah Mall is hosted by Beth El’s Religious School. Hand crafted items created by religious school students will be for sale and proceeds will go to a charity researched and chosen by the sixth grade. The Director of the Religious School, Rabbi Judy Spicehandler, emphasizes the importance of this event as part of the school’s curriculum. “A key value we teach is concern for both the immediate community and the world at large. The Mitzvah Mall gives us an opportunity to involve students in Tikkun Olam, or repairing the world.”

Other vendors selling gifts to benefit good causes at this year’s Mitzvah Mall include:

Under the
Same Moon
, an organization supporting Guatemalan schools will be selling
colorful and distinctive handcrafted jewelry, ornaments and scarves.

Judaica gifts will be sold by Yad LaKashish, an organization which provides creative work
opportunities to Jerusalem’s needy elderly and disabled.
