Mr Sudbury, Hal Cutler, will speak to Villagers about Sudbury's 375 Anniversary

Hal Cutler, a direct descendant of the Goodnow family of 1638 who were among the first Sudbury settlers, will be the Villagers Club's speaker at their Thursday, February 6th, meeting at the Community Room of Sudbury's Goodnow Library as the town prepares its 375th celebration of its incorporation in 1639!  Hal's talk will be very interesting and includes a video presentation of numerous events and people in Sudbury's history.

Recently, the Sudbury Town Crier published an article featuring the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation's naming Hal,  a "Patriots Difference Maker" for his  17-year leadership of a group of volunteers from the Memorial Congregational Church in Sudbury. It stated that, as part of their Celebrate Volunteerism campaign, Hal was honored along with 14 other "difference makers" and received a $1,000 grant for Rosie's Place at the final game of the Patriots regular season on Dec. 29.    Hal and his wife, Betsey, have led a team of volunteers from MCC to dedicate their time to Rosie's Place. Each month, he and  Betsey,  recruit 12 church members and their friends to serve dinner to over 150 women and their children in the Rosie's Place dining room. He has also coordinated food and clothing drives at his church to benefit children and families in need at Rosie's Place!!

The Villagers meeting starts at 9:30am with a short social and refreshments.  The club also sponsors various functions, such as,  an Annual Spring High Tea; and a Spring Luncheon usually concludes the social year. In addition, the club works at various local Blood Drives, bakes Pies for Hosmer House's July 4th Bake Sale  which raises funds for the House's art preservation program, collects for  Holiday and Spring baskets for the area needy,  visits Museums, schedules Theater and Bridge  parties,  sponsors a year-long Marathon Bridge group, as well as, a very active Book Browsers season. The club also donates generously to local worthy causes.

The monthly meetings on the first Thursdays are, usually,  at Goodnow Library and are open to the public. We especially invite women who would like to know more about our club to join us to learn about our activities by attending a meeting.   They are usually held at 9:30am on the first Thursday of the month in the Community Room of Goodnow  which is located at 21Concord Road, just off the Boston Post Road  (US Rte#20)  near Sudbury's business center with ample parking in the rear.
