Statement from James Taylor on the Death of Sudbury's Lester Holtzblatt

The local resident died leaving the Tanglewood concert Wednesday night when he was struck by part of a tree.

News of the death of Sudbury native Lester Holtzblatt has reached musician James Taylor.

Holtzblatt and his wife, Karen, attended Taylor's concert Wednesday night at Tanglewood in Lenox.

"The Taylors were deeply saddened by the news of the accidental death of concertgoer Lester Holtzblatt after the July 4th concert at Tanglewood," according to a statement on Taylor's Facebook page. "They extend their condolences to the Holtzblatt family and to his friends at this difficult time."

Holtzblatt was killed while leaving the concert when he was hit by a 20-foot section of a tree as he and his wife walked on Richmond Mountain Road.

Concertgoers were treated to calm weather during the concert, as storms passed to the north and west of Lenox.

Authorities are treating the death as an accident.

Services for Holtzblatt are planned for Sunday at 10:30 a.m., at .
