Edward Donnelly of the Department of Inspector of Massachusetts Military Order of the Purple Heart presented a certificate to the Town of Sudbury, honoring it as a Purple Heart Community during the Dec. 3 Board of Selectmen meeting.
Each year, Aug. 7 will be designated as Purple Heart Day in Sudbury, honoring all those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.
Sudbury natives who have earned the Purple Heart, or relatives of those who have earned one, are: John Longo, Ronald Nix, and Steve and Janice Milley.
