Weekend Happenings: Trucks, Pancakes, Hotdogs, Bootcamp and Ice Cream

Lots to do while you stay close to home this weekend.

When/Where: Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon at Atkinson Pool/Fairbanks Community Center (40 Fairbank Rd, Sudbury)

The Buzz: Local fitness guru Bonnie Morrissey has raised more than $77,000 for ovarian cancer research so far. She has the opportunity to name a research office in her mother's honor when she reaches the $100,000 mark and bootcamp attendees can help her reach that goal.

Seventh annual Touch a Truck Event

When/Where: Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Wayland Middle School (201 Main St., Wayland)

The Buzz: This event is for the young and young at heart ... face it, you never outgrow the fascination with fire trucks. The free, fun event features lots of trucks and town equipment as well as a dunk tank, local vendors, face painters and lots more.

When/Where: Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Wayland Town Beach (27 Parkland Drive, Wayland)

The Buzz: What better way to start your Saturday than with pancakes and a row on Lake Cochituate. This is a fundraiser for the Wayland-Weston crew team and members will be on hand to offer rowing instruction. You'll be learning from a nationally recognized, championship team.

Price: Breakfast and learn to row, $30; just breakfast, $10.

Back to School Hotdog Social

When/Where: Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Roxbury Weston Programs' Playground (339 Boston Post Road, Weston)

The Buzz: Free hotdogs and a chance to mingle with other preschool parents, of course.

Price: Free

Free Ice Cream Cone for Acton Food Bank Donation

When/Where: Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at The Happy Chocolatier (509 Nagog Park, Acton)

The Buzz: Do some good for a local charity and receive a sweet thank you gift. The Happy Chocolatier will debut Lizzy's Ice Cream in the store and will give a free ice cream cone to customers who bring in a grocery bag full of non-perishable food items for the Acton Food Bank.
