Goodnow Raffle Generates Excitement

The hottest items at the Goodnow Library these days are not Blu-ray discs or e-books, but raffle tickets. A display of baskets to be raffled at "A Toast to the Goodnow" wine-tasting event on Oct. 19 is attracting patrons -- and cash -- in the library lobby.

The wine-tasting and raffle, sponsored by the Goodnow Library Foundation, will raise money for renovation of the Children's Room.

Raffle baskets include a collector's edition of Saige, an American Girl doll complete with spectacular hot-air balloon and other accessories; a technology basket that includes an iPad Mini and lap desk; a food basket filled with gift certificates to local restaurants plus gourmet goodies; a Red Sox basket, which features behind-the-dugout tickets and a David Ortiz autographed baseball; a children's sports basket, with equipment and sport-themed books; a "Wayside Inn Time Travel Basket;" and more.

Raffle tickets are $5 each, with five tickets for $20 and 30 tickets for $100. They can be purchased at the Goodnow circulation desk prior to the wine-tasting. (Ticket buyers do not have to be present at the event to win.)

Those attending "A Toast to the Goodnow" will receive two raffle tickets each as part of their admission. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased at the event.

Anyone interested in attending "A Toast to the Goodnow" can pick up information at the circulation desk. Tickets to the wine-tasting are $55 per person. Guests will enjoy wines and beers chosen to highlight Old World and New World styles, along with food and musical entertainment. The "Toast" runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
