Pelletiers await response from Secretary Polanowicz on proposed changes to Reunification Plan

The Pelletier family and their counsel, Mat Staver, met with MA_HHS John Polanowicz again this past Friday to negotiate changes to the secretary's proposed reunification plan.  Governor Patrick, when confronted by family spokesperson, Rev. Patrick Mahoney, had granted a meeting between the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the family, and Mahoney to discuss the family's proposed plan for a direct return of Justina to her home with conditional custody a week earlier.  However, the state's proposal was to have MA retain custody and transfer the ill teenager to a CT Harvard run facility in the northwest corner of Connecticut, and stipulated conditions that must be met by the Pelletier family for MA courts to consider at a future date whether to return her home.

Secretary Polanowicz commented in an interview on Fox news, that he felt his proposed plan was the most  direct route to reunification of Justina to her family, as it avoided having to go through the process in CT.  However, the family believes that for Justina to be sent to yet another locked down pscyh ward would be devastating to the teen, who has been confined for fifteen months after her custody was suddenly and dramatically remanded to DCF at the request of Boston Children's in February of 2013.
