Thanks to L-S Athletes

On behalf of the L-S Athletic Department, thank you to our athletes, their families and our staff for the eventful Life of a Warrior presentation by John Underwood on September 9th. The event taught us.  The attendance amazed us.  John’s presentation enlightened us.

After hosting such a huge event, our department learned some lessons.  We look forward to planning more events and making the logistics more efficient.  We’ll embrace our own core value of improvement.

Seeing over 1,500 people in the Horton Gymnasium exceeded our best expectations. In fact, John Underwood informed us that out of thousands of presentations, this was the second largest audience he educated.  Clearly, our community respects L-S and engages our “extracurriculum.” We especially appreciate all the athletes who went to school, went to practice, went to the presentation and then went home and did schoolwork until near midnight.  You’re terrific, thank you!  Our student leaders—who organized the presentation—made such a strong impression that John invited them to speak at his conference in Lake Placid this coming summer.

Finally, John’s presentation taught many valuable lessons—all of which will be available on Sudbury TV.  We hope the essence is this.  You get to be a high school athlete once.  You cannot control your talent, your opponent or the officials.  You can control your performance.  That performance comes from practice and training.  To practice and train at your best you need your team to sleep well, eat right and totally avoid the use of alcohol and drugs.

Sincerely yours,
