Concord-Carlisle at Lincoln-Sudbury

The LS boys swim and dive team kicked off their season in brilliant fashion last Friday night (December 13), crushing the Concord-Carlisle team and proving they will be the team to beat yet again. The scoring for the meet was stopped after the 100 backstroke at which point the score was 101-52. This is a great start to what appears will be a very successful season.

The first event of the meet could not have gone better for the LS boys, who took first and second in the 200 medley relay, when the two teams of Ricky Billig, Chris Wilkins, Tom Edwards, and Andrei Rakitin, and Nick Genovese, Anthony Foscolos, Nate Thomas, and Jack Walker destroyed the rest of the field. The meet continued on a similar note with the 200 freestyle where LS managed first, third, and fifth to continue on their path success. Billig, Hogan, and Thomas followed taking first, second, and fourth in the men's 200 Individual Medley.

Diving came next where the domination continued. Though LS had only one diver, Nick Wilkins managed to get first place and keep the pattern of firsts alive.

Next the boys conquered the 100 butterfly where Tom Edwards, Ben Yamron, Seth Joachim, and Chris McGean all had respectable swims taking places one, five and six. The 100 freestyle was impressive as well when freshman Nick Wilkins, David Cincotta, and Colin Alie all posted strong times.

          C. Wilkins, Hogan, and Thomas pushed through the grueling five hundred freestyle and took first, second, and fourth, softmore Ben Cehelsky also had a stellar swim. The 200 freestyle relay followed and LS managed a notable first and third.

LS took first in the next two events as well, the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke, where freshman Ben Yamron and Brian Knightly proved to be of great value to the team. The meet was drawn to a close with the 400 freestyle relay where the team of Billig, Edwards, Knightly, and Wilkins destroyed the competition and won the last event of the meet.

This meet was an excellent start to what appears to be a promising season. With some new talent on the team, the LS boys swim and dive team should be in a great position this year and are ready to dominate. The boys will race Waltham on Tuesday, December 17 and hope for a similar result.
