LS boys Swim Team vs Bedford

Bedford at Lincoln-Sudbury Boys

          Lincoln-Sudbury faced the Bedford team last Thursday, January 23 in what was another blowout for LS. The boys won every event and the scoring was stopped at the 500 freestyle at which point the score was 24-86 (leading to a final of 74-86). 

          The boys took first and second in the first event, with the team of David Cincotta, Kevin Kennedy, Brian Knightly, and Anthony Foscolos finishing close behind in the 200 Medley Relay. Walker, B. Knightly and Cincotta took first second and third in the following event, the 200 freestyle, augmenting the lead.

          LS took first second and third in the next four events. Thomas, Kennedy, and Focolos dominated the 200 IM, with Colin Alie trailing close behind. Edwards, C. Wilkins, and Hogan all swam well in the 50 freestyle and took places one two and three, with Seth Joachim also having a very strong swim.

          Diving followed were N. Wilkins and Henderson performed incredibly well and took fist and second. Chris Kngihtly also dove for the first time this season and proved he had the skill and grace to come in third.

          The boys managed first, second, and third in the following event as well when Rakitan, Joachim, and B. Knightly overpowered the Bedford boys in the 100 Butterfly. LS continued to be tough in the 100 freestyle, where Walker, Cehelsky, and Alie took first third and fifth. Next, N. Wilkins, Genovese and Cincotta took first, second and fourth int he 500 freestyle.

          The LS boys tied for first in the next event, the 200 freestyle relay, continuing their streak of wins. Joachim, Rakitan, Billig, and C. Wilkins and Cehelsky, C. Knightly, Genovese and Edwards made up the two winning squads. C. Knightly, Rakitan, and Thomas took first second and third in the 100 backstroke and Billig, McGean and Kennedy swam well in the 100 breast to take places 1, 2,and 4.

          The 400 freestyle relay brought the meet to an end with LS taking first and second, over 40 seconds in front of the first Bedford team. 

          This meet was an excellent example if LS's dominance and power in all events. Th team has been working hard to perform well and get as many points as possible whether it be first place or fifth place points. With regular season drawing to a close the team is beggining to prepare for DCL's and the postseason meets. The boys will face Boston Latin next Tuesday, January 28 in their final duel meet of the season.
