Longtime Sudbury Resident Was Active Volunteer, Mother of Seven

The Sudbury resident passed away in Danvers following a bout of illness.

SUDBURY - Janet Patricia Huie, 80, of Sudbury passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after an illness.

Mrs. Huie was born on November 9, 1933, in Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Helen (O'Brien) Patterson. She was raised in New York City and graduated from the Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, NY with the class of 1951. She graduated from Regis College, Weston MA in 1955.

A longtime resident of Sudbury, Mrs. Huie raised seven children and volunteered for community organizations. A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Bridget's Parish in Maynard and served as Eucharistic Minister with her husband. Mrs. Huie enjoyed gardening, visiting family and spending time with neighborhood friends.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Huie; seven children, Bruce Huie of San Francisco, Robert Huie and his wife Bernice of Fayetteville, GA, Kathleen Trahan and her husband Christopher of San Jose, CA, Karen Huie of Gloucester, Nanci Ryder and her husband Scott of Wellington, FL, Douglas Huie of Sudbury, Ellen Huie of Providence; three siblings, Kenneth Patterson of Laguna Beach, CA, Maureen Haskins of Placentia, CA, Brian Patterson of Spokane, WA; also eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur "Bugsy" Patterson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday March 17 at St. Bridget's Parish, 1 Percival St., Maynard.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Kaplan Family Hospice House.
