United States Navy Veteran Loved Camping and Spoiling His Grandchildren

Warner Zoller, 81, grew up in Watertown and Sudbury.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Badger Funeral Home.

Warner Zoller was born in Waltham on February 19, 1933. son of the late Forest and Helen (Whitney) Zoller, grew up in Sudbury and Watertown graduating from Watertown High School in 1952 and played drums in the marching band. He joined the US Navy and proudly served from 1952 to 1956.

He earned the rank of Seaman and served on the Heavy Cruiser USS Pittsburg in the Atlantic Fleet and honorably discharged in 1960. He then drove a delivery truck for Norfolk Electric and Waters Manufacturing before joining Western Electric, which became AT&T and then Lucent where he repaired home phones, switchboards and pay phones until his retirement in l989. He was a member of Union CWA Local 1395.

In his younger years, he enjoyed camping in Maine and NH, hiking and the great outdoors with his wife and sons. After his retirement you could find him puttering around the yard and visiting with neighbors. He enjoyed going to breakfast with family and friends and going to Kimball’s. And, most of all he loved spoiling his grandchildren as they grew up.

He is survived by his wife Margaret (Patterson) Zoller of Littleton, 3 sons Jonathan and his wife Theresa Zoller of Ayer, Jeffrey Zoller of Chelmsford and David Zoller of Littleton. A sister Marcia and her husband Anthony Oteri of Lancaster and a brother Peter Zoller, Warner is also survived by2 grandchildren Christina Zoller and David “DJ” Zoller.
