Car Catches Fire After Accident, Driver Faces OUI Charge

The following arrest information was supplied by the Sudbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Sudbury man is facing an OUI charge after a one-car accident Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lt. Robert Grady, officers were dispatched to the area of 168 Horse Pond Road at about 7:07 p.m.

When officers arrived, the car was on fire. Officers looked to see if anyone was inside, but did not find anyone.

The driver of the car came forward to identify himself. Grady said after an investigation was completed, officers arrested Michael David Hamill, Jr., 24, of 136 Horse Pond Road.

He is charged with operating under the influence of liquor and a marked lanes violation.

Hamill was released at 11:17 p.m. and was scheduled to be arraigned at Framingham District Court on Thursday.

Why didn't Junior just tell them that his father worked for the Sudbury Fire Department? Pull a "Do you know who I am?". Five-0 probably would have let him go. Too funny. Junior is building up quite a rap sheet though.

What does the SPD allege to have happened? Was Michael Hamill the driver of the car that was on fire?

Yes, the 24 year old was driving the vehicle, but he remained missing for twenty minutes or so such that SFD was concerned that was still in the vehicle after it became totally engulfed. He then turned up and was taken by Five-0 to Emerson Hospital for evaluation, treatment and charged as indicated. Between Five-0 and SFD, there were at least ten over the air conversations broadcast over the Police band, 462 MHz, I believe. It was quite interesting, I happened to catch the replay over the internet.
