The Federal Bureau of Investigation has placed a former Mansfield resident on its top 10 most wanted terrorist list, according to Boston.com.

Ahmad Abousamra, 31, who is a dual citizen of Syria and the United States, was indicted in 2009 along with convicted Sudbury terrorist Tarek Mehanna, according to Boston.com. The FBI is offering $50,000 for information leading to his capture.

Abousmra has ties to Detroit, according to the FBI and is believed to have left the United States in 2006. He may be living in Aleppo, Syria right now. The FBI said he could be with his wife and child.

As part of the, indictment, he faces charges of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, attempting to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to kill in a foreign country, conspiracy and false statements, according to the FBI. Abousamra allegedly travelled to Yemen and Pakistan to obtain terrorist training, according to the FBI.

Meanwhile, Mehanna's appeal of his  17½-year prison term was denied Tuesday, the Boston Globe reported.

“We do not pretend to understand why the defendant chose to go down such a treacherous path,” Circuit Judge Bruce M. Selya wrote of Mehanna.

“Nevertheless, the jury found that he knowingly and intentionally made that choice,” a finding backed by the “clear weight of the evidence,” Selya wrote for a three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

A federal jury convicted Mehanna in December 2011 on four terror-related charges and three charges of lying to authorities.
