Local Man Faces 3rd OUI Charge in Sudbury

The following arrest information was provided by the Sudbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A motor vehicle stop by the Sudbury Police Department on Nov. 14 resulted in the arrest of a local man.

According to Lt. Robert Grady, an officer on patrol on Pratts Mill Road pulled over a motorist at about 5:43 p.m. after witnessing him making an alleged illegal pass of another car and following that car too closely.

After the officer completed an investigation, Francis J. Quinn, Jr., 64, of 26 Basswood Ave., was arrested and charged with:

  • OUI liquor (third offense);
  • Passing violation;
  • Motor vehicle by-law violation (following too closely).
According to DMV.org, a third OUI conviction can result in:
  • Felony charge.
  • License suspension for eight years.
  • $1,000 - $15,000 fine.
  • Possible jail time between 180 days and 2 ½ years, or prison time between 2 ½ years and 5 years. Your judge can reduce the sentence to 150 days; otherwise, you aren’t eligible for parole until you serve 150 days.
  • Possible alcohol education program.
  • Mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device.
  • Possible vehicle registration revocation.
  • A license reinstatement fee ranging from $50 to $1,200, depending on the specifics of the crime.
Quinn was released at 6:55 p.m. and was scheduled to be arraigned at Framingham District Court on Nov. 15.
