Numerous Accidents Reported in Sudbury on Sunday's Icy Roads

The following information was supplied by the Sudbury Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

 

On Sunday, Dec. 16, a light rain and temperatures hovering just above freezing turned treacherous as tempertures dropped in the late afternoon and evening hours, causing roads to ice. 

Between 2:26 p.m. and 5 p.m., 18 car accidents were reported, on Wayaide Inn Road, Maynard Road, Boston Post Road, Goodman’s Hill Road, Mossman Road, Hudson Road, North Road, Raymond Road, Concord Road and Nobscot Road, according to Sudbury Police records.

They ranged from minor accidents to rollovers, said Lt. Scott Nix, and no serious injuries were reported, though several people were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

"Due to the weather, we responded to numerous car accidents," Nix said. "We were not notified of any life-threatening injuries."
