Sudbury Drug Disposal Event Scheduled for Saturday

The event is hosted by the Sudbury Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Sudbury Community Resource Awareness Network.

Sudbury Police are hoping to take back a significant number of prescription drugs during a Saturday event hosted by a trio agencies.

The Sudbury Police Department, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Sudbury Community Resource Awareness Network are hosting a Drug Disposal event at the Department of Public Works building at 275 Old Lancaster Road.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. residents can dispose of unwanted or expired drugs, which can include prescription drugs, controlled substances, over the counter drugs, herbal remedies, vitamins, and pet medications.

"This event is very important because among young people ages 12-17, prescription drugs have become the second most abused illegal drug behind marijuana," police said, according to the town website. "Every day 2,500 teenagers use a prescription drug to get high for the first time. Most teens say it is easy to get prescription drugs at home."
