Sudbury, Framingham Police Help Locate Missing Hiker

A hiker became lost for about an hour in the Nobscot Reservation.

Sudbury Police Lt. Robert Grady is cautioning anyone thinking of hiking the Nobscot Reservation along the Framingham line to do one important thing: bring a cell phone.

Officers from both towns were dispatched to the reservation on July 27 after receiving a call about a missing person.

Grady said a husband, wife and a friend went hiking in the area when they became separated just after 11:15 a.m.

"Our patrols along with Framingham (manned) the exits," Grady said. "We had officers in the woods looking."

Other hikers wound up finding the missing person and used a cell phone to contact the police. The person, who was missing for about an hour, was OK.

"Bring a cell phone if you go hiking in the woods," Grady said. "There are so many things we can do if you get lost. It makes it a lot easier to find you."
