A Pondview Road resident contacted the Sudbury Police Department on Dec. 4 to report her property had been vandalized.

When the responding officer arrived, the resident indicated the damage was to her mailbox, Lt. Robert Grady said.

The resident's husband had gone to check for mail earlier that morning and found a can of beans opened and flipped upside down.

The beans had spilled inside the entire mailbox.

The resident said she did not why someone would spill beans in her mailbox.

The type of beans were not in the police report, Grady said. because the husband cleaned the mess before the officer arrived.

In other police news from Dec. 4:
  • Officers recorded a report of a one-car accident on Wayside Inn Road that happened on Dec. 1. According to Grady, a motorist drove off the road, hit a ditch, destroyed a mailbox and struck a utility pole, severing power lines. No one was injured and there were no tows. Grady said it was likely caused by the black ice that formed during the morning.
