Sudbury Residents Hospitalized from Icy Conditions on Sunday

Officers busy responding to numerous motor vehicle accidents.

The Sudbury Police Department responded to numerous calls regarding accidents from the black ice that formed Sunday morning.

According to Lt. Robert Grady, officers were dispatched to various parts of town between 7 and 10 a.m. regarding eight calls of cars either going off the road or being involved in accidents.

Between 8 and 9 a.m., there were four reported accidents on Peakham, Boston Post, Dutton and Marlboro roads. No injuries were reported in those accidents.

At 9:17 a.m., a one-car accident on Boston Post Road sent one person to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham with minor injuries.

Grady said officers also responded to numerous calls of residents slipping on black ice. Some of those residents were also transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.

But the worst of the conditions happened in Worcester, where icy conditions caused more than 70 cars and three tractor-trailers to crash. Thirty people suffered minor injuries.
