Sudbury Woman Struck By Car Friday Night in Fair Condition

Maya Novak's dog is also improving.

Maya Novak, the Sudbury woman who was hospitalized Friday night after she and her dog were struck by a car on Fairbank Road, is in fair condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Novak, 66, of 304 Maynard Road, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston with possible life-threatening injuries, Sudbury Police Lt. Robert Grady said in a statement Friday night.

Her condition on Saturday night was stable according to a nurse on her floor. Jerry Berger, director of media relations at Beth Israel, updated her status to fair on Tuesday.

According to IVG's Summer Aweidah, the dog had also improved from its critical state on Saturday.

"The dog is OK at the moment," she said. "He seems to be improving and is doing fairly well. There's potential he will go home tomorrow."

The vehicle that struck Novak and her dog stayed at the scene Friday night and the operator was identified to police.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Sudbury Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.

The crash caused Fairbank Road to be closed in the area of the crash for 3 1/2 hours.
