Board of Selectmen to Swear in New Members Tuesday Night

The Board will also reorganize, voting for a new chairman, vice chairman and clerk.

Sudbury's three to five movement for its Board of Selectmen will officially become complete Tuesday night when Chuck Woodard and Leonard Simon are sworn in as its newest members.

Woodard and Simon won the seats at Special Town Election last month, defeating Thaddeus Gozdeck and Dan DePompei, respectively.

Town Clerk Rosemary Harvell will administer the oath of office at 7:30 p.m. at the beginning of the Board of Selectmen’s meeting at Lower Town Hall.

Residents are invited to attend.

The movement started in May 2012 when, after Annual Town Meeting, numerous elected officials and town employees celebrated at Lavender Asian Cuisine & Bar.

The party stayed past the allowed liquor license hours, which is governed by the Selectmen, forcing the Sudbury Police Department to issue a violation.

Among those who stayed late was current Board Chairman Larry O'Brien, who has recused himself from all conversation of that night on the advice of town counsel.

Immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, the Board will begin its business agenda at approximately 7:45 p.m.

The final item on the agenda is the reorganization of the Board. A new chairman, vice chairman and clerk will be voted at this time.

Last year, O'Brien kept the chairmanship for a second term when fellow selectman John Drobinski nominated him instead of allowing Bob Haarde to lead the Board.
