With Vote Upcoming, Residents Invited to Tour Police Station Monday Night

The first vote for the proposed facility is scheduled for next week.

Looking to get informed on the proposed Sudbury police department? You have one final chance on Monday night.

The Permanent Building Committee is holding the second of its two public sessions on Monday night, allowing residents to review the proposed plans.

A public forum was held on March 18 inside Town Hall, while tonight's session is scheduled to be held from 6-8 p.m. inside the current Police Station.

During the allotted Monday time, members of the public are invited to come to the Sudbury Police Department at 415 Boston Post Road to tour the building.

The first portion of the vote on a potential new Sudbury Police Department facility is scheduled for one week from Monday on March 31.

March 31 is Election Day, when residents will be asked whether they support the initiative through a ballot vote. The lone ballot question will read as follows:

"Shall the Town of Sudbury be allowed to exempt from the provisions of proposition two and one-half, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bonds issued in order to construct a newPolice Department Headquarters and appurtenant structures on Town-owned land adjacent to the existing Fire Headquarters, for site development, purchasing additional equipment, technology, furniture, landscaping, and all expenses connected therewith, including professional, engineering, and architectural services and preparation of plans, specifications and bidding documents, supervision of work, relocation, and borrowing costs and expenses?"

In order to be approved the project, which will likely cost at least $7.5 million, must also pass Town Meeting on May 5.
