Sudbury Foundation Donates $33K for Leadership Training, COA

Sudbury's Board of Selectmen voted to accept two grants from The Sudbury Foundation during its Jan. 14 meeting.

The grants were presented via a letter by Executive Director Marilyn Martino.

The first grant was for $15,000 for the purpose of a leadership training course for town department heads, to be expended under the direction of Town Manager Maureen Valente.

"I'd like to thank the Foundation for these generous grants," Selectman Len Simon said. "This will help Sudbury bring along mid-level managers and help them become department heads. It's one of the goals the selectmen embraced, and the Foundation was aware of that. It's a thoughtful contribution."

The second grant was for $18,000 to help enable the Council of Aging to continue to fund the Senior Volunteer Coordinator position. These funds will also be expended under Valente's direction. 

"We applaud them for their generosity," Chairman John Drobinski said. 

The Sudbury Foundation is a private foundation working to transform lives and strengthen communities through grantmaking and scholarship programs in Sudbury and surrounding communities.

Founded in 1952 by Sudbury residents Herbert and Esther Atkinson, the Foundation focuses its activities on quality-of-life issues that value both human and natural resources.
