Town Unsure When it Will Fill Rust's Position

The former community housing coordinator resigned after being convicted last month of a third OUI.

The Town of Sudbury has an official opening in the Planning and Community Development Department after the resignation of Beth Rust on July 8.

But when the community housing coordinator position will be advertised is unknown, according to Assistant Town Manager Maryann Bilodeau.

"At this time that has not been determined," she said.

Rust was sentenced to six months in prison after a jury convicted her last month of a third OUI.

Rust was among a group of town employees and elected officials, including Board of Selectman Chair Larry O'Brien, who celebrated at Lavendar Asian Cuisine and Bar last year after Annual Town Meeting ended.

Rust told a jury last month she had only two drinks that night before crashing her car at the Union Avenue and Concord Road island, knocking over a stone marker.

Blood test results from that night showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.16, twice the legal limit.

The 57-year-old was found guilty of:

  • Operating under the influence;
  • Operating under the influece with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit of .08;
  • Marked lanes violation.
