Lincoln-Sudbury Skiers Close Out Season at State Championships

Several boys and girls skiers led the Warriors at Wachusett Mountain to cap the 2013-14 season.

The high school ski season came to a close last month as a group of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School students hit the slopes at the MIAA State Alpine Ski Championships at Wachusett Mountain.

Representing the Warriors were Tim Calrough, Sam Houlihan, Stuart Clarke, Jack Costello and Andrew Carlson along with Alexandra Nygren, Eva Elder, Skylar Bradley-Dade, Madison Frissora and Vicky Coronado.

Coaches Graham Taylor and Matthew Wentworth advised the locals throughout the season.

At the meet, the girls team finished with 192 slalom points and 200 giant slalom points, totaling 392 points, good for eighth place as Wellesley went on to the title.

The boys LS boys team notched 149 giant slalom points, 171 slalom points and 320 points total to snag 14th out of 24 teams, lead by state champion St. Peter-Merian.

Nygren had the best individual finish in the slalom for the girls teams, ending in 22nd out of 136 athletes. In the giant slalom, Nygren also had the best finish for the Lady Warriors, ending the day in 19th out of 130 skiers.

On the boys side, Costello had the best finish in 31st out of 130 slalom skiers. Houlihan had the best day on the giant slalom, ending with a 43rd place finish among the 110 boys skiers who finished the course.
