Girls Basketball Falls Just Short in Playoff Opener

Despite a strong effort, the Warriors were eliminated on the road Tuesday night.

Host Shrewsbury had just enough to get past Lincoln-Sudbury on Tuesday night, clipping the locals and eliminating them from postseason play.

The Warriors, who entered Central Division 1 play as the No. 9 seed, hung tight with the bracket's No. 8 team before eventually falling by a 42-39 margin.

After the win, Shrewsbury advances to the quarterfinal round where it will take on one-loss top seed Holy Name on Friday night.

Lincoln-Sudbury, meanwhile, sees its season come to a close with a record of 12-9 on the year.

The Warriors boys basketball team remains alive in postseason play, traveling to face No. 2 St. John's on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
