L-S Boys Swim Team Cruises Past Boston Latin

Relay teams take first in all three events.

On Jan. 4 , the LS boys had a great meet against Boston Latin with numerous swimmers capturing top places and phenomenal times in their events. The boys consistently swept the events and they defeated Boston Latin convincingly with a score of 100-70.

To kick off the meet the 200 Medley Relay team comprised of Edwards, Brown, Billig, and Rakitin placed 1st. Closely behind was the Relay Team of Shelley, Foscolos, Thomas, and Knightly who placed 2nd.

In the 200 yard Freestyle Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Nick Genovese swept the race earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Jake Hogan, and Nate Thomas swam into 1st and 2nd place for the 200 I.M. Close behind them was Kevin Kennedy finishing in 4th place.

In the 50 yard Freestyle Billig was barely out touched for 1st place. Finishing after Billig were three LS swimmers Rakitin, Walker, who posted a personal best, and Kolodny.

Kevin Henderson won the diving. In the 100 yard Butterfly Taylor Brown and Chris Knightly took 1st and 2nd. Following Behind was Alex Yamron in a close 4th place.

Edwards, Rakitin, Shelley, and Hurley clinched 1st through 4th in the 100 yard Freestyle.

In the grueling 500 yard Freestyle Wilkins, Brown, and Thomas finished in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Nick Smith in his first time swimming the 500 swam into 4th.

The Relay Team of Shelley, Rakitin, Knightly, and Edwards finished 1st in the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay.

Billig, Knightly, Genovese, and Shelley dominated the 100 Backstroke finishing in the first four places.

In the 100 yard Breaststroke Foscolos took 2nd place. While Kennedy and Cehelsky secured 4th and 5th place.

To finish the meet on a good note LS’s 400 yard Freestyle Relay Teams swept the race taking the top three places.

The upcoming week will be a tough one with the boys facing off against the strong Weston swim team on Jan. 11.
