Lincoln-Sudbury Boys Swim Team Captures 4th at States

400 freestyle relay team of Ricky Billig, Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Tom Edwards finished in 2nd place.

On February 17th the LS Boys State team comprised of 8 swimmers took 4th place at Divisional I States. The Boys were very successful considering the number of swimmers they had. Contributing to the team’s success was numerous swimmers going best times. 

To start off States Dylan Brown, Taylor Brown, Ricky Billig, and Tom Edwards finished in 4th place in the 400 Medley Relay. 

In the 200 Freestyle Chris Wilkins went a best time of 1:49.45 and took 14th place.

In the 200 Individual Medley Ricky Billig went a best time and finished in 7th place. Jake Hogan and Taylor Brown placed 20th and 24th and they each went a best time. 

In the 100 Butterfly Tom Edwards took 6th place with a best time of the season.

Dylan Brown achieved one of his main goals of the season by breaking 50 seconds in the 100 Freestyle. While doing so he finished in 13th place. 

In the 500 Freestyle Chris Wilkins went a best time and placed in 7th place. Jake Hogan also went a best time and finished in 14th. 

The 200 Freestyle Relay Matt Shelley, Taylor Brown, Andrei Rakitin, and Chris Knightly placed in 15th place. 

In the 100 Backstroke Tom Edwards finished in 6th place Ricky Billig and Dylan Brown placed in 19th and 24th. Nick Genovese went a best time and broke a minute. 

Taylor Brown despite having water in his goggles went a best time and took 9th place. 

The last event of States was perhaps the most exciting race of States. In the 400 Freestyle Relay Ricky Billig, Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Tom Edwards finished in 2nd place. Dylan Brown during the relay helped LS by coming back and gaining yardage for Tom Edwards to finish it off.

The LS boys had a great season and it came with a great ending at States. It was the last meet for seniors Matt Shelley, Taylor and Dylan Brown and the team will miss them next year.
