Lincoln-Sudbury Boys and Girls Track Teams Excel at State Meet, Earn Two Titles

At last week's MIAA state meet, the Warriors earned an individual crown and a relay race crown.

Last week Lincoln-Sudbury track and field athletes participated in their final Massachusetts meet of the year. And the Warriors left their mark on the state.

The boys team finished with 14 points at Bridgewater State University, good for a tie for 14th place out of 88 teams. Lincoln-Sudbury's girls team, meanwhile, snagged 12 points and took home 19th place out of 83 teams.

The individual highlight of the day came on the boys side, where senior Ben Colello earned the Warriors' highest individual finish as he won a second straight state title in the 400 meter hurdles witha  time of 54.68 seconds. Thanks to that performance, Colello advanced to the New England competition.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Colello qualified first with a time of 14.59 second, but he ended the day in eighth place at 15.73 seconds.

Also earning a state championship was the girls 4x800 meter relay team, which won the all-state title in a in a first place time of 9:17.17.

For the Lady Warriors, the best individual performances on the day came in the one-mile run. Sophomore Ariel Keklak was seventh at 5:07.39 while freshman Alexa Babick wasn't far behind, coming in ninth at 5:08.54.

Rounding things out for the top girls finishers was junior Sydney Clary, 13th in the two-mile run with a time of 11:37.12.

The Warriors 4x400 meter relay team finished the season strong, earning sixth place with a 3:22.79 time.

In the field events, a pair of Lincoln-Sudbury juniors participated in the triple jump. Tom Rhines had a finish of 41-06.50 for ninth place, while Sam Roth was 14th out of 22 competitors at 41-02.25.
