Lincoln-Sudbury Graduate Saves College World Series Game, is One Win From National Title

Adam Ravenelle will look to win a title on Tuesday, in a game aired on ESPN.

Game 1 of the College World Series baseball final featured plenty of scoring. But not when Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate Adam Ravenelle took the ball.

The former Warrior pitcher and current reliever at Vanderbilt University came in to pitch in the critical ninth inning to earn the save Monday night and put his team within one victory of a national championship.

It was a wild game during which a nine-run third inning but the Commodores in control before Virginia scored the next seven runs to pull within a single tally.

But that was when Ravenelle, who was drafted by the Detroit Tigers earlier this spring, came on and closed the door.

In the ninth inning, the right hander calmly opened the inning by inducing a pop out to shortstop. Ravenelle then continued the one-two-three frame with a ground out to shortstop and closed out the win with a foul out.

To see if the Lincoln-Sudbury graduate will get a chance to close out a national title, tune in to ESPN for Game 2 of the College World Series on Tuesday night. First pitch is at 8 p.m.
