Lincoln-Sudbury Lacrosse Season Decided in Overtime Thriller

The East Division 1 girls lacrosse semifinal was decided in dramatic fashion on Tuesday evening.

Regulation wasn't enough. Neither was the first portion of overtime.

But eventually, Franklin had just enough to end the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School girls lacrosse team's stellar season.

The Panthers scored in the final second of the second half of the six-minute overtime session, eliminating the Warriors in the East Division 1 semifinal round.

With the victory, Franklin advanced to the sectional final where the Panthers will take on Concord-Carlisle, the top seed in the bracket.

Lincoln-Sudbury had some chances in the extra session, including a goal that scored after the horn in the first portion of overtime, but they couldn't crack the scoreboard in the sudden death period.

Franklin's game-winning goal came from Maegan Schmauder with six seconds left to play in the second half of the six-minute overtime.

With the loss, the Lady Warriors' season came to a close with a record of 13-4-1.

Boys Tennis Team's Strong Run Ends

A surprising playoff run by the Lincoln-Sudbury boys tennis team came to an end on Tuesday afternoon against an unbeaten foe.

Top seed Lexington beat the Warriors, 4-1, at home to advance to face third-seeded Acton-Boxboro in the championship match.

No. 1 singles player Matt Organisak was the lone winner for Lincoln-Sudbury. He came away with a tiebreaker win by a score of 6-4, 6-6 (7-1).

Baseball Team Remains Alive in Super 8

After a rocky start to the Super 8 tournament, the Lincoln-Sudbury baseball team is very much still in the hunt for a state title.

The Warriors were throttled, 19-4, in their opening game of the tournament. But they've bounced back nicely with a weekend 4-1 win over Lowell and an 11-4 victory on Monday over Silver Lake.

Thanks to those victories, the team will square off against No. 5 seed Braintree on Thursday at 4 p.m. inside Brockton Rox Stadium in the losers bracket semifinal.

The winner of Thursday's game advances to face the loser of Newton North versus Bridgewater-Raynham, which is the team that beat the Warriors and sent them into the losers bracket.

Whichever team were to win that game would advance to face the unbeaten team in the state championship game.
