Playoffs Start this Week for Lincoln-Sudbury Hockey Teams

The MIAA announced its playoff pairings on Saturday afternoon.

A pair of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School hockey teams are ready to hit the ice this week as the playoffs get underway.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its playoff pairings on Saturday, and both of the school's hockey teams are included.

Lincoln-Sudbury's boys hockey team eyes a deep playoff run, starting in the North Division 2 quarterfinal against Winthrop. The Warriors are the No. 4 seed and will play on Friday at 6 p.m. in Woburn. The winner of that game will face either Danvers, Amesbury or top-seeded Beverly.

North Division 2 has a slightly different look this year. Wilmington cruised to the last two state championships, eliminating the Warriors along the way last season. But the Wildcats moved up to Division 1, opening the field for a new champion.

The Lincoln-Sudbury girls hockey team is the No. 12 team in Division 1 play, and as a result will take on Melrose at Valley Sport in Concord. That game is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Whichever team can survive its preliminary round match up will take on No. 5 Duxbury on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
