Season Comes to a Close for Lincoln-Sudbury Baseball

Though the Warriors were blown out in their tournament opener, they made a run to become one of the final four teams in the Super 8 tournament.

It was a Super season for the Lincoln-Sudbury baseball team. But on Friday it came to an end.

The Warriors made a lengthy run through the inaugural Super 8 baseball tournament, reaching the bracket's final four teams.

On Friday, however, the local nine met their match as they were eliminated from the bracket with a 3-1 loss to Braintree.

"[Lincoln-Sudbury] is a pesky team. They wouldn’t let us pull away," Braintree head coach Bill O'Connell told ESPNBoston.com. "I felt like we had some opportunities to open up the game, but it shows what type of team they are to keep it close."

Lincoln-Sudbury's tournament opened with a 19-4 loss to Bridgewater-Raynham, sending the No. 6 Warriors into the losers bracket.

But the locals bounced back nicely with a 4-1 victory over No. 7 Lowell, and they sent No. 4 Silver Lake packing with an 11-4 win before being eliminated by Braintree.

The Wamps will now take on Bridgewater-Raynham in the final game of the losers bracket. The winner of that game will take on top seed Newton North for the state championship.
