Several Lincoln-Sudbury Teams Off to Fast Starts

A pair of Warrior squads are ranked in the Top 25 by ESPNBoston early on.

It's still early, but spring is off to a good start for several Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School teams.

In the latest version of its Top 25 poll, ESPNBoston.com has the Warriors baseball team up to No. 15 after being ranked 21st in its previous version of the poll. Lincoln-Sudbury started the campaign 5-1, though the locals did lose a tight 1-0 decision on Monday afternoon.

"Masterful performance for Sid Warrenbrand in the Warriors' battle with Framingham (last) Monday, fanning 15 batters in an 8-0 victory that also saw Alex Wieland hit a grand slam," ESPNBoston.com wrote.

In its boys lacrosse poll, which was last updated on Friday, ESPNBoston.com has the Warriors sliding back two spots from its previous location. But Lincoln-Sudbury is still tanked as the No. 6 team in the state.

Lincoln-Sudbury has pounced to a 7-2 start to the season to earn its high marks.

"The Warriors were upset in a close one by North Andover, 9-8, in the first round of the Coaches Challenge Cup, and they looked none too happy as they dismantled Winchester, 17-1, in their second-round tilt," wrote ESPNBoston.com.

Though no rankings list has been updated this year for girls lacrosse, the Lady Warriors are also performing well on the field.

Lincoln-Sudbury is 7-1 overall on the campaign, with a Dual County League record of 6-0. That is good for first place, just ahead of perennial powerhouse Westford Academy.
