St. John's Cruises Past Lincoln-Sudbury in Quarterfinal

The Warriors were eliminated from the postseason with the lopsided loss.

It was a strong season for the Lincoln-Sudbury boys basketball team. But it came to an ugly end on Thursday night against a powerhouse opponent.

No. 2 seed St. John's thumped the Warriors by an 85-41 margin in the Central Division 1 quarterfinal round, ending the season for No. 7 Lincoln-Sudbury.

The game was essentially over within the game's first 16 minutes. St. John's opened up a 42-11 lead into halftime and never looked back.

With the win, St. John's advanced to face St. Peter-Marian on Sunday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Central Division 1 semifinal. The winner plays either South High or Franklin in the sectional title game.

The loss ended Lincoln-Sudbury's season with a record of 13-9 on the year. The team earned its quarterfinal berth with a 66-52 win over Doherty earlier this week.
