Sudbury Baseball Players Stay Busy in Elite Summer Leagues

Carl Anderson and Dan Cellucci helped Bryant University to its best season ever in 2013.

The Bryant University baseball team is still basking in the glow of its 2013 season.

The Bulldogs enjoyed its greatest season in program history, finishing the season at 45-16-1, including a 20-3 mark at home.

Among those who were major contributes to the Bulldogs' success was sophomore center fielder Carl Anderson (Sudbury, Mass.), who was named First Team All-North Region.

Anderson enjoyed a breakout season this spring. After hitting just .250 as a freshman, Anderson exploded to hit .341 this spring with 73 hits. Primarily the fifth batter in the lineup, he collected a team-high 49 RBI, scored 42 runs and stole 20 bases while making just two errors in the outfield. Anderson also worked 14 walks, was hit 11 times and struck out just 22 times in 214 at-bats.

To keep his skills sharp, Anderson will take part in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) with six teammates dispersed throughout the region.

Another promising player for Bryant is fellow Sudbury native, sophomore Dan Cellucci (Sudbury, Mass.), who is playing for the Nashua Silver Knights in the Futures League this summer.

Cellucci played in 41 games this season, starting in 18. He scored 10 runs with six RBIs while posting a respectable .922 field percentage.
